KEEPING WOMEN OUT OF PRISON PROGRAM

Established in 2013, KWOOP (Keeping Women Out of Prison) is an independent, authoritative Coalition comprised of individuals and organisations including service providers, philanthropic and not-for-profit organisations, universities and women with lived experience of the criminal legal system. KWOOP’s vision is for better outcomes for women and children affected by the criminal legal system.

KWOOP is a sub-fund of the Sydney Community Foundation. It is governed by an independent Executive Committee.

We are seeking a dynamic Project Manager to support two significant initiatives: the Arrest to Release program and KWOOP's emerging Community of Practice (CoP). This role combines practical project management with community engagement to enhance support for women affected by the NSW justice system.

As Project Manager, you will help steward the Arrest to Release program, Australia's first comprehensive digital resource guiding women through the justice system. Born from lived experience, this platform provides trauma-informed support across ten critical stages, addressing the specific needs of mothers, first-time offenders, and women facing additional barriers including First Nations women and those from culturally diverse communities.

You will also contribute to KWOOP's new Community of Practice, supporting collaboration among service providers, researchers, advocates, and women with lived experience. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to KWOOP's vision of better outcomes for women affected by the criminal legal system.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The project manager will work with the KWOOP Coordinator to:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Arrest to Release program, ensuring it runs smoothly and meets its goals and milestones
  • Connect and coordinate with all partners involved in the program, including service providers, Departmental staff and contractors
  • Provide administrative support to keep the KWOOP Community of Practice running effectively and help members share knowledge and resources.
  • Support the implementation of KWOOP's Communications Strategy through content creation and coordination of communication activities.
  • Support our annual events program with administrative support as required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination or management, particularly in the community services or justice sector
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create engaging content for different audiences
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities, with experience in coordinating meetings, events, and information sharing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as other online platforms such as Canva and Humanitix

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of the criminal justice system and its impact on women
  • Experience working with not-for-profit organisations or in the community sector
  • Knowledge of communications and social media strategy implementation
  • Database management experience
  • Event management experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Arrest to Release program, including managing relationships with service providers and justice system partners
  • Organise and maintain project documentation for the Arrest to Release Program, ensuring all program materials and resources are properly stored and accessible
  • Coordinate logistics for workshops, training sessions, and events related to both the Arrest to Release program and KWOOP Community of Practice
  • Prepare and provide regular updates to key stakeholders on program progress and activities
  • Act as a primary point of contact for the Arrest to Release program partners
  • Support KWOOP Community of Practice meetings as required
  • Support the delivery of KWOOP's Communications Strategy by creating content, coordinating communications activities, and maintaining communication channels
