Do you have a passion for storytelling and promoting diversity in STEM?
Science & Technology Australia is expanding and enhancing our renowned Superstars of STEM program, with a focus on increasing cultural capability and reaching Indigenous communities. If you have a passion for science, technology, and communications, and are eager to learn and grow in the media space, this role is for you.
We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual who is excited to help share the incredible stories of the Superstars of STEM program.
In this role, you will work closely with the Program Manager and the Director of Communications to help identify and develop media opportunities for the program. You’ll assist in building relationships with media outlets and support the promotion of the program to a wider audience, with a particular focus on Indigenous and rural/remote communities. You will also help organise media training for program participants and ensure that the program runs smoothly.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow in your career in communications, particularly within the diversity and STEM sectors. You will be joining a small inclusive team with a genuine passion for both improving diversity in the STEM workforce and for elevating Indigenous knowledges.
This is a part-time role (0.6-0.8FTE) based in our Canberra office.
STA is a leading voice for Australia’s science and technology community, representing over 235,000 scientists and technologists. We are committed to supporting diversity and inclusion in the STEM sector, advocating for policies that benefit science, technology, and innovation. Through initiatives like Superstars of STEM, we amplify the voices of under-represented groups in science and technology.
