The SDA Newcastle and Northern Branch is seeking to employ a Recruiter for the Central Coast and Newcastle region. As Australia’s largest private sector trade Union, we have more than 13,000 members in our Newcastle & Northern Branch, and over 210,000 members nationwide. We represent workers in the retail, fast food and warehouse industries.

Job Role

You will work as part of a close-knit team of union officials to support our members and workplace Delegates. You are a passionate unionist, determined to grow member voice by increasing SDA membership across our region.

Key Responsibilities

• To recruit new members and grow the union
• To encourage Delegates and members to be active in their workplace and participate in union campaigns
• To protect and win better workplace rights for all members
• To educate workers and support them in enforcing their rights at work
• To be a vocal advocate for industrial, economic and social issues in the interests of all members, including young workers, causals, the low paid and women
• To be a strong, fair and effective ambassador for the union
