We are looking for a dynamic and passionate casual educator to deliver our sexuality and relationships programs in Melbourne schools in primary and secondary schools (teachers, teachers aids/assistants and those with early childhood experience welcome to apply.
The job
- Deliver programs as outlined by Sex Education Australia (SEA) and following the lesson plans provided
- Travel to clients to deliver programs or deliver online
About SEA
Sex Education Australia was established in 2011 and is a trusted provider of sexuality and relationships programs to over 100 schools in Victoria.
Our school programs are aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and are run by passionate educators who deliver accurate and informative sessions. SEA provides key messages for young people can take away to help them with their decision making, health and safety.
SEA educators are committed to delivering programs that are age-appropriate, accurate and relevant, and help young people to:
- Develop confidence to talk about and understand how their bodies work

- Develop their sexual health knowledge and decision-making skills

Employment conditions
- Three-month probationary period and training. The successful candidate will undergo a training period consisting of an initial meeting, observing SEA staff teaching and running a program independently, whilst being evaluated by a SEA staff member
- This is a casual position
- Work is offered during Victorian school term dates which may vary according to schools. Most work is based in Melbourne, however, some work may be outside Melbourne metro or online
- SEA reserves the right to not offer ongoing work at the end of the training period if teaching standards have not been met
- Australian citizenship, residency or valid visa to work in Australia is essential
Qualifications and experience
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current driver’s licence and personal vehicle for transport
Key selection criteria
In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet the following selection criteria:
- Be available 3-4 days a week
- Be passionate about working with children and young people in an authentic and engaging manner
- High quality teaching or facilitation skills and the ability to manage and engage children and young people (training will be provided for those less experienced)
- Excellent classroom management skills (training is provided for those less experienced)
- High level of communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Willingness to develop professional practice and keep up to date with current educational practices and issues relating to sexuality and relationships education
