Our head office is based in Melbourne. It is preferred that a portion of time is spent working from the office, however if this is not possible due to location, then 100% remote working is also accepted.

The Opportunity

This is a brand-new role, accountable for Sea Shepherds Philanthropy program across Australia, forming a critical component of the Fundraising team. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising the Philanthropy and Partnerships Specialist will work in collaboration with the key stakeholders to diversify and maximise Sea Shepherd’s revenue streams. You will do this by shaping and executing best practice major donor & bequest programs, identifying and cultivating new relationships, and building on existing relationships with high-capacity donors and corporate partners. This role is crucial to enhancing Sea Shepherds long-term sustainable funding.

What you’ll do

  • Grow and maintain relationships with corporate partners, major donors and Trusts and Foundations.
  • Create and manage the implementation of stewardship and recognition strategies for this portfolio such as donor cultivation events and visits.
  • Research and implement a grants calendar to acquire funding for Sea Shepherd campaigns.
  • Coordinate the Gift in Wills program. Deliver regular EDM updates to prospects and assist the Communications team with social media advertising.
  • Present major gift and corporate proposals to new prospects and established donors personally, including renewal of established donors.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators of the major gifts, corporate partners and Gift in Wills strategy.
  • Ensure that details of contact and discussions are recorded in the CRM database.
  • Work closely with Head of Fundraising to develop and manage income and expense budgets, forecasting and reporting across programs.
  • Project manage the philanthropy programs to produce timelines for each activity to ensure they are executed on time and on budget.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are involved and informed of deadlines.
  • Seek input from relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop detailed creative appeal briefs.
  • Collaborate with Head of Fundraising and Communications team to contribute to producing engaging content for supporter communications.
  • Coordinate and deliver an integrated retention and engagement program, including seamless automated donor journeys both off and online to ensure timely delivery of all donor communications. Ensure donation processing, receipting, recognition, and ongoing supporter care is delivered to the highest standard.

What you’ll need

  • You’ll be a team player with a “can do” attitude able to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
  • You’ll have 2 to 3+ years proven work experience in similar fundraising roles specialising in philanthropy and designing and implementing fundraising strategies.
  • You’ll have a proven track record of success in increasing revenue in this portfolio.
  • You’ll have exceptional verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to develop and maintain relationships with people from all levels of business and community.
  • You’ll have a high attention to detail with excellent organisation, time management and project management skills.
  • You’ll be confident using Salesforce NPSP (or other customer relationship management databases), Mailchimp and other relevant 3rd Party platforms.
