With an expanding focus of its operations, SECCCA requires an Engagement and Communications Lead to support the Chief Executive Officer in this exciting, newly established role.

ABOUT SECCCA

The South East Councils Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA) is an alliance of eight local governments in south east Melbourne. The purpose of the organisation is to support our member councils in delivering climate adaptation and resilience programmes that reduce greenhouse emissions and accelerate the net zero transition. Our vision is for a vibrant, prosperous and climate-safe south east Melbourne.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The South East Councils Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA) is expanding the focus of its operations and requires an Engagement and Communications Lead to support the Chief Executive Officer in a newly established role. The role will focus on developing and implementing an effective communications and advocacy strategy and supporting the CEO and team in engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

The incumbent will also be required to lead the development and implementation of policy and communications plans, collateral and on occasions represent the organisation at external meetings. In addition to strategy development, day to day activity will include coordinating the development of agendas, minute taking, calendar management, organising events and other administrative tasks.

The role will also present the opportunity to be involved with and support a range of interesting and leading-edge climate change related activities.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • 10 + years of communications and advocacy experience
  • Senior stakeholder management skills with an ability to engage professionally with people in various roles including Local Government Councillors, Executive and Officers
  • Excellent written, communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities
  • Proficiency in relevant software programs including Microsoft Office suite, adobe
  • Ability to lead engagements with SECCCA stakeholders

This is a hybrid role, with frequent visits to Councils and working from home.  Infrequent interstate travel may also be required.  Applicants should hold a Victorian Drivers license. 

Remuneration will be based upon skills and experience.
