Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) is a not-for-profit member-based organisation that organises the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade and Festival every summer, and LGBTQIA+ events year-round. Through our Festival, events and activities we act as a global beacon of pride, progress and community. We work to raise the visibility of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual communities, and champion equality.
Since the first march for freedom in 1978, SGLMG has grown into a leading international arts festival, our iconic Parade now includes over 250,000 people and reaches a digital audience of almost half a billion. As one of the world's biggest Pride movements, our unique combination of social justice, community and celebration is internationally recognisable.
The Festival Producer leads the delivery of assigned SGLMG produced Festival events year-round (assigned events come from a broad range of genre, from dance and music events to performing arts, comedy and cabaret) as directed by the Executive Producer.
The role oversees the development and production of all assigned SGLMG events to world class quality, significance and reputation in collaboration with the relevant Festival and Events Teams and is responsible for the curation of the SGLMG year-round program. The Festival Producer will ensure the programming of all assigned SGLMG events contributes to the Festival’s multi-tiered celebration, entertains, engages and enthuses the LGBTQIA+SB communities, the wider community, tourists and spectators alike. The Festival Producer will develop ongoing strategies to maintain and develop assigned SGLMG events and ensure their relevance and longevity as part of the world’s leading LGBTQIA+SB and diversity celebration.
The Festival Producer oversees and manages the administrative, financial, creative, production and technical aspects of the preparation, planning, organisation and implementation of assigned SGLMG produced events. Due to the scale of events, workplace and public safety are a key accountability of the Festival Producer.
The Festival Producer will manage contracted relationships with talent, artists, agents and related talent entities. Sponsorship and media partnerships are essential relationships, and the Festival Producer will work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure these relationships are successfully nurtured. The Festival Producer will also liaise with key stakeholder groups, venue partners, arts & cultural organisations and government agencies as a representative of SGLMG.
