Sharehouse is a not-for-profit community organisation with a 40+ year history of working with young people in the Townsville community.

  • We support young people (16-25) and children in their care, with high-quality, person-centred services, including case management, mobile support, and referral to other specialist services.
  • Our specialist homelessness service provides temporary supported accommodation to young people experiencing homelessness or facing other barriers.
  • We provide a 5-week employability program teaching young people job-ready skills and supporting them to find employment or training.
  • We’re constantly focussed on finding more ways to empower, assist, and advocate for young people in our community and beyond.

Sharehouse’ CEO leads, inspires, and empowers a multi-disciplinary, diverse team to make a positive difference in the lives of young people, and in the community.

The CEO reports to Sharehouse’ voluntary management committee who share responsibility for governance and oversight, supporting the CEO in their responsibility for all aspects of the organisation’s operations including; leadership, financial management, workplace safety and wellness, risk management, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement and management, business and community development, strategy and growth, advocacy and human resources.

The CEO is a strategic thinker and planner, who is adaptable, resilient, and calmly and productively responds to crises and changing landscapes with transparency and accountability. The CEO has exceptional emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, and conducts themselves and those around them ethically, respectfully and compassionately while setting and maintaining healthy boundaries.

The CEO has the knowledge, skills, and capabilities to work collaboratively to realise and expand on Sharehouse’ strategic vision of sustainably expanding services and programs, including establishing a Social Enterprise.

Sharehouse’ CEO ensures that young people are always at the heart of everything that Sharehouse does.

The CEO is a practical, driven, and down-to-earth leader and management professional with a passion for young people and community services.

They are highly organised, conscientious, reliable, hard-working, and motivated to achieve results as rapidly as possible, while maintaining attention to detail. The CEO is empathetic, flexible, open-minded and respectful. They lead by example and work to build trust and earn respect by being open and transparent.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to working towards Sharehouse’ Vision, Mission, and Values.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and humility, including the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with anyone, including First Nations People and people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in strategic decision making and leadership of a multidisciplinary team of people from diverse backgrounds, such as young people with lived experiences.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in community development.
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing, financial management and human resource management.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
