About the Role

This leadership role is essential for ensuring high-quality care for our residents and a supportive work environment for our staff. Key responsibilities include overseeing clinical care and staff management, administering medications, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with accreditation and legislative requirements. You will work closely with the Facility Manager and other key personnel to maintain our standards of excellence.

The position includes, but is not limited to:

  • A supervisory and active role in all aspects of the delivery of care to the Resident, within the facility
  • Responsibility for the supervision and administrations of medications to Residents within the facility, and accurate documentation associated with this process.
  • Participation in and supervision of all documentation within the facility is an essential part of the role, as well as the management of the regular hand over details and report to on-coming staff.
  • Ensuring the facility is managed according to accreditation and legislative requirements.
  • Incident management (documentation and follow-up)
  • Dealing with residents / representatives, collaboratively developing solutions, documenting, monitoring and reporting follow-up
  • Create and maintain a learning environment and ensure that staff maintain their required skills and education.
  • Documenting interactions and action required by health providers and the team.

Essential skills and attributes (selection criteria)

  • Registered Nurse with current National Practicing Registration
  • Successful experience of working for a minimum of 5 years in aged care/gerontology
  • A demonstrable working knowledge of the Aged Care Act and accreditation requirements
  • A high level of interpersonal communication skills, including active listening
  • Experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated team building skills
  • Ability to build rapport, negotiate and maintain effective relations with key stakeholders
  • Ability to manage conflicting time pressures and priorities appropriately, and balance multiple demands.
  • Ability to problem-solve complex issues
