Sniff Off is the Greens NSW campaign, in conjunction with NSW Young Greens, against the use of drug dogs at festivals, bars, and train stations. The campaign involves posting updates of drug dog locations to Facebook and Twitter, handing out flyers at festivals about the drug dog program and advice on how to deal with police, and drawing media attention to problems with the drug dog program.

Maintaining and directing the Sniff Off campaign is a core part of the work.

The Research Assistant/Police Campaigner position is to be paid one day a week with a total remuneration package up to $19,430 per annum (dependent on skills and experience) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading


  • Administer the Sniff Off Facebook and Twitter pages
  • Advice and policy work on police accountability
  • Communication and liaison with the Young Greens
  • Design campaign materials including share squares and memes for Facebook
  • Plan events (eg. forums, handing out flyers, demonstrations)


  • Commitment to Greens’ principles of social justice, ecological sustainability, grassroots democracy and peace and nonviolence
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
  • Experience participating in activism and/or community campaigns


  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian political processes and the media
  • Proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop and video editing software
  • Experience working in campaigns including grassroots activist campaigns
