ABOUT RED NOSE

We are a national charity working to save little lives and support people impacted by the death of a little one during pregnancy, infancy or childhood.

Red Nose has deep roots in the community, with our amazing staff and volunteer team providing care and resources to families across Australia.

ABOUT THE ROLE

There are some jobs that are remembered forever – where the impact you have is profound. This is your opportunity to join a team that makes a difference in the lives of families following pregnancy and infant loss.

This role combines 1) supporting individual families in the first six months of the loss of a baby or infant (from stillbirth, TFMR, neonatal death or the Sudden Unexpected Infant Death up to 12 months of age) through our Hospital to Home program, and 2) creating Community Engagement opportunities for all bereaved families, wherever they might be in their journeys, enabling them to feel a sense of belonging and inclusion with the Red Nose community.

We encourage applications from people of diverse cultural and social backgrounds and genders, who can enhance the role and program with their lived-experience. You will know the heartache of losing a much-loved baby as well as the difficulties of navigating your grief whilst trying to manage the complicated administrative processes and relationship difficulties that can occur following loss. You will appreciate how important cultivating a safe and supportive community is and be passionate about leading that effort.

You are far enough through your own journey to be able to listen and support others in their grief whilst managing your own, and your energy, compassion and parent-centred approach to supporting others will be the keystone to your success in this role. You will use your empathy and organisational skills to support bereaved families through the first months of adjusting to life without their baby and guide them to ongoing supports in the community.

You may have a background in counselling, social work or other related services, or you may have other experience in supporting the bereaved.

You will be a great communicator with the writing and organisational skills to case note efficiently, and will be able to talk to medical and other professionals as well as to bereaved families and friends. Along with being able to host community events for larger numbers of parents. Providing outreach visits to families, you will need a drivers licence and access to a car, and your application will be subject to police, working with children and referee checks.

The role is 0.6 FTE and will be based in our Red Nose office in Chifley with work in the community and some flexibility to work from home.
