We know it can be difficult and frustrating applying for roles, wondering if the role is right for you and if your experience is right for SLR. Many people won’t apply for roles unless they feel they tick every box on the checklist. At SLR we look for many different skills and technical competencies and we’re always looking for how new team members can add value to the business and to our culture. If you think this role isn’t quite for you, but you have a desire to work with us, – then we’d still love to hear from you!

SLR Consulting is an international environmental consultancy with a globally recognised reputation for providing high quality tailored services. With offices throughout the Asia Pacific, Europe, North, Central and South America and Africa regions, we are one of a very small number of leading international specialist environmental consultancies. We have committed to being a Climate Neutral Business by 2030 and have a long-term commitment to align with global net zero ambitions.

Job tasks & Responsibilities

These are exciting times at SLR Consulting and we are now seeking an experienced life cycle assessment (LCA) consultant to drive forward our work in this expanding field. We are looking for someone with the skills to win and deliver new projects and build a team to support that delivery. You will join our growing ESG Strategic Advisory Team, providing practical advice across a wide range of sectors. The nature of LCA work means that you can expect to work with colleagues in APAC and beyond, providing coordinated support to clients across the full range of sustainability services, including circular economy, natural capital, energy transition and social capital considerations. You will be joining a global LCA practitioner community within SLR.

Our clients are facing a range of sustainability challenges, including pressures to decarbonise their business and to secure reliable and responsible supply chains for their production. We are looking for a leader to support such clients in the determination of the life cycle impacts of their products and services. Drawing in colleagues as required to offer complementary sustainability services, you will liaise with the clients and prepare compelling proposals for their requirements.

Once commissioned, we will look to you, as an experienced LCA practitioner, to lead the delivery of the services, working with our junior consultants to further develop their LCA capabilities and enable them to grow professionally.

Your role will entail:

  • Delivering technical LCA modelling, initially via SimaPro® and bespoke MS Excel® models
  • Relevant other software you may be familiar with GaBi/Sphera, openLCA, OneClick, Umberto
  • Providing wider calculations and analysis as required, to study material flows and other sustainability considerations, in collaboration with SLR colleagues, as required
  • Translating technical outputs of LCA into business context, and feeding into organisational level net-zero & decarbonisation strategies
  • Writing technical reports and delivering presentations for clients to share results and conclusions
  • Managing multiple projects concurrently, to time and budget, and to each client’s satisfaction
  • Costing and preparing proposals, offering our services to clients in the best possible light
  • Building capability within SLR to deliver LCA services, through training and mentoring our junior colleagues
  • Contributing to SLR business development plans and setting our future direction
  • Writing articles and presenting papers promoting our work

Skills & Experience

You will bring a strong understanding of the market with which you can develop compelling solutions to existing and new clients, perhaps bringing a particular sector experience from your previous roles and leveraging opportunities from your existing contacts.

We will expect you to have:

  • A demonstrable track record in designing and delivering LCA and/or carbon footprint projects
  • Excellent analytical, research and communication skills
  • A firm understanding of the current and future sustainability challenges facing organisations
  • An ability to develop and lead on business development activities
  • A strong team working ethic, to deliver the best outcomes for our clients by utilising the particular capabilities of everyone working on your projects
