To plan and deliver SLSQ’s community awareness programs in the Brisbane region. The Community Awareness Coordinator will be based in our Brisbane officeOccasional weekend work is required for programs and activations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To develop and maintain a 12-month calendar of community awareness programs in the Brisbane region.
  • To manage the risk assessments for all community awareness events/programs in the Brisbane region.
  • To maintain quality standards of all community awareness program content in the Brisbane region.
  • To maintain accurate records of all community awareness activity in the Brisbane region.
  • To manage and roster the community awareness presenters in the Brisbane region.

Skills & Experience:

  • Working with Children ‘Paid’ Blue Card or ability to obtain one quickly.
  • Current Surf Life Saving membership and proficient bronze medallion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills- including the ability to compile succinct and high-quality reports, policies and protocols.
  • Excellent and persuasive presentation skills.
  • Ability to relate to diverse sectors of the community.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Public Safety Community Programs.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Sound knowledge of the range of Surf Life Saving Queensland ‘programs’.
  • Ability to plan and priorities workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Moderate computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Able to work autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Ability to manage, train and motivate casual staff members to deliver programs.
  • Experience in managing multi-site resource and staff requirements.
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving skills.

Surf Life Saving Queensland employs over 550 people throughout Queensland. SLSQ is an efficient and vibrant organisation servicing 36,000 members. It was formally established in 1930 and is the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland, comprising 57 affiliated surf lifesaving clubs in six regional branches. The organisation also includes supporters’ clubs and a range of programs that involve more than 462,000 participants.
