About the Role:

The Growth & Engagement Officer is responsible for driving member growth, fostering engagement, and supporting the delivery of key projects aligned with Surf Life Saving Queensland’s membership strategy.

This role focuses on recruitment, stakeholder collaboration, community awareness, and promoting inclusivity, ensuring a vibrant and diverse membership base.

Through strategic initiatives and exceptional service, the position contributes to the organisation’s mission to save lives, build community resilience, and enhance public safety.

The Growth & Engagement Officer will be based in our Brisbane officeThere is occasional weekend work involved.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement initiatives to attract and retain members, aligning with the Membership Strategy.
  • Coordinate with SLSQ Marketing to deliver recruitment campaigns targeting diverse age groups, demographics, and skill sets.
  • Monitor and analyse membership trends, providing regular reports and insights to guide strategy adjustments.
  • Work with DEI Manager to drive initiatives that foster inclusivity and participation among underrepresented groups.
  • Collaborate with clubs and branches to support localised recruitment efforts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clubs, branches, and partner organisations.
  • Represent Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) in meetings, workshops, and events to promote engagement and collaboration.
  • Develop resources and training to support clubs in enhancing their member service delivery.
  • Respond promptly to member inquiries, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, with the ability to develop and execute targeted campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver projects within deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for communication, engagement, and marketing (e.g., CRM systems).
  • Problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to addressing challenges.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, including managing partnerships and collaboration.
  • High level of organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of volunteerism or community engagement.
  • Understanding of Surf Life Saving Queensland’s mission, values, and operations (desirable but not essential).

About SLSQ:

Surf Life Saving Queensland employs over 550 people throughout Queensland. SLSQ is an efficient and vibrant organisation servicing 36,000 members. It was formally established in 1930 and is the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland, comprising 57 affiliated surf lifesaving clubs in six regional branches. The organisation also includes supporters’ clubs and a range of programs that involve more than 462,000 participants. SLSQ is directly affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and the International Life Saving Federation (ILF). Surf Life Saving Queensland is built on a fundamental principle: to save lives. Our organisation encompasses several diverse arms – lifesaving services, community education, membership services, surf sports, fundraising and commercial training.
