Reporting to the CEO this newly created role partners with this national membership body to raise (i) awareness and remove barriers by to enabling every Australian living with a physical disability with opportunities to release their full potential.

This role is responsible for providing the logistical, coordination and administrative support to enable the organisation to effectively advocate its policy positions and engage with its members.

The role will also provide assistance with research and analysis to inform future policy and advocacy work.

Key traits include multitasking, ability to prioritise, working with autonomy, empowering of others, high levels of trust and integrity, stakeholder management. Working with and influencing and reporting to the Board (voluntary Board).

Previous experience in policy advocacy, practical interpretation and passion for DEI is essential.

Project and Policy Support

  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the policy environment relevant to organisations purpose, values and vision.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings and other events, including calendars, accessibility requirements, attendance lists, agendas and minutes distribution
  • When required, attend and minute meetings and assist the CEO in following up action items
  • Liaise with meeting participants to determine and arrange accessibility requirements
  • Act as the point of contact for members and other stakeholders for particular policy, project or submission initiatives
  • Undertake and report on research, analysis and data collection for policy and advocacy projects
  • Draft correspondence and communications for external stakeholders as required
  • Work collaboratively with team members to contribute broadly to the achievement of the strategic objectives
  • Provide content for board reports (as required)
  • Participate in organisational activities including team meetings, planning initiatives and professional development processes

To be considered extensive experience of policy implementation and development with the disability sector, with several years experience in a policy, operational support or administrative role.

You will have flair and passion for bringing policy from theory to practical application, have exceptional time management and project management skills coupled with the confidence to influence and liaise with a broad range of stakeholders across different entities

This is a remote working opportunity but local and interstate travel may be required as part of the role.
