About Sonder Care Group:

At its core, Sonder Care Group is about offering an awesome service to people with a disability in a unique way! Our founder, Sebastian, is a passionate support worker with a love of the outdoors, 4WDing, camping, hiking and sports. Wanting to help people with a disability explore their own passions, he started Sonder Care Group in January 2019.

Sonder Care Group actively seeks out support workers who align with our vision of providing engaging activities and helping people with a disability embrace all life has to offer. We really focus on delivering support in a more mentor/role model fashion rather than a traditional carer role. This helps us provide a fun, exciting experience for participants and support workers alike, rather than a transaction or just a job.

About the role:

At Sonder Care Group, we aim to fill the role of a mentor/role model for our participants. The wide variety of hobbies, interests, skills and personalities in our pool of awesome support workers enable us to do this! Working for Sonder is flexible, fun and tailored to suit your needs and level of experience. You choose your own hours, working as little or as much as you want.

Once you are 'matched' with a participant with similar interests, the management team take a hands off approach. Whilst management are always there for support and coaching, the relationship to be built on is between you and the participant. We are looking for team members who are interested in building a long term relationship with their participants as this is when the magic happens!

Support workers and participants join the Sonder team for some fun, connection and to get out and about! We are specifically looking for support workers in the areas between Gympie, The Sunshine Coast and North Brisbane.

We also run 4WD and adventure camps to Fraser, Moreton and Double Island, so if jumping on a camp as a support worker sounds like you, then please reach out.

Skills and experience:

Whilst experience is a bonus, what we are really looking for is reliable people that are passionate about helping people. We are looking for individuals with unique hobbies, who also possess the desire to share these interests with a person with a disability.

Our team consists of Outdoor Educators, Yoga Instructors, AFL Players, Coaches, and Circus Performers, Psychology and OT students, just to name a few!

As a base all workers must have their NDIS Worker Screening Check, Provide First Aid and CPR, Blue Card, a reliable car and licence. All of which can be obtained after a successful interview. We have our own internal trainings that will also be completed during the onboarding process.

Hours/ Pay:

Once you and the participant are matched based on similar interests, you can work together to create your own shifts. You can work as little or as much as you want! Some Sonder workers have only one client whilst others prefer to organise a full-time schedule with multiple participants.

We pay employees a competitive rate of $38.14 - $83.90 /hr.

Location:

The work is undertaken remotely. Shifts generally entail picking clients up from their houses and taking them out on adventures! We are specifically looking for support workers in the areas between Gympie, The Sunshine Coast and North Brisbane. If you live in these regions then we would love to hear from you!
