A community based non-Government agency providing services to vulnerable young people and their families is seeking mature, energetic people for:

  • Full-time positions based in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.
  • Residential Youth Work positions available.
  • Youth and family work, case management and case work, crisis intervention, implementation of behaviour management strategies.

Essential

  • Demonstrated commitment to high ethical practices and positive approach to work (eg commitment hardworking, flexible, ability to work under pressure and meet timelines, initiative, energy, enthusiasm) including willingness and ability to work in accordance with the organisation's philosophy and work culture and willingness to participate in general organisational activities.
  • Ability to relate and communicate well with young people and their family members and a genuine regard for young people and their families.
  • Possess an understanding of issues for vulnerable/disadvantaged groups and relevant and proven experience in working with young people and family members in a practical way.
  • High level interpersonal and casework skills including rapport building, boundary setting, conflict resolution, assessment, referral, interviewing, advocacy.
  • Proven and competent written and administration skills.
  • Ability to liaise with, and knowledge of community resources and other services and government departments.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Ability to provide a COVID-19 vaccination certificate
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and on call as necessary and ability to work shift work including weekends and public holidays.
  • Access to registered, comprehensively insured vehicle while on duty, current driver's license and telephone.

Desirable

  • For some positions and Specialist roles Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare/Community Services, Behavioural Science or other relevant discipline
  • Relevant and proven experience in working in various Models of service delivery - youth accommodation, housing, child protection, mental health or other relevant health areas, multicultural services, education, training, pre-employment or employment including knowledge of and skills in various methods of service delivery such as case management, casework, brokerage, drop-in/casual contact, outreach, counselling etc.
  • Relevant experience working with community based agencies.
  • Statistical computation and analytical skills or the ability to learn such.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.

CONDITIONS: Dependent on position, experience and qualifications, full-time staff range $85,348– $91,834 plus on-costs and penalties, generous salary packaging with income taxation savings through FBT exempt arrangements. Career opportunities.
