Are you an experienced Senior Research Consultant with a passion for leading and delivering large-scale qualitative research and evaluation programs? Do you want to make a real impact on Australian society through your work? If so, we want you to join our Evaluation and Qualitative Research team!

Your Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to a Research Director, you’ll work with a diverse team of researchers, operational staff, programmers, statisticians, methodologists, data scientists, and communication specialists. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and delivering qualitative research and mixed methods evaluation projects from start to finish
  • Communicating with and managing stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Leading the development and delivery of fieldwork, analysis, reports, and proposals
  • Leading the development of impactful reports
  • Problem-solving and adapting to challenges on the fly
  • Contributing to continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • A passion for social or public research

Key Selection Criteria

  • Research Expertise: Experience in project leadership, research and evaluation design, literature reviews, qualitative fieldwork, analysis, reporting, and proposals. Experience with mixed methods and evaluation methodologies will be highly regarded.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects, people, and deadlines efficiently.
  • Adaptability: Ability to respond to changing situations and apply new concepts quickly.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach. Adept at balancing various tasks and responsibilities and effectively use research results. Must have experience in delivering impactful reports.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Qualtrics, NVIVO, and the Microsoft Office suite. Experience with survey methodology and statistical analysis tools is a plus.
  • Grounding in Social Policy: Strong understanding of social policy development and governance within the Australian context, including policy/program design and implementation, is essential.

Position Details

  • This is a permanent, full-time position with the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement. Part-time arrangements (equivalent to 4 days per week or 0.8 full-time equivalent) may be considered for the right candidate.
  • We welcome applications from interstate or regional Victoria, provided you can travel to Melbourne as needed.
