About the Role

This is an opportunity that is driven by purpose and will create positive outcomes for women, children and families at risk. The DFV Support Officer will work within NSW Multicultural DFV Service which offers Domestic and Family Violence programs through culturally responsive services to women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in Southwestern Sydney

The key purpose of this role will be to efficiently monitor, screen and triage all general enquiries and referrals received via main reception line or shared mailbox. This role reports directly to the Director of the DFV Centre and will work closely with the practitioners to undertake data related tasks, general clerical & admin work of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the main reception phone, email inbox, incoming mail, provide information about NSW Multicultural DFV Service and complete referral to other relevant internal/external services
  • Complete initial screening and assessment of referrals to identify eligibility and main presenting risks or concerns
  • Respond to DFV practitioner requests for brokerage support and maintain mobile phone/voucher registers and databases. Manage calendar bookings for meeting rooms, travel requests from staff and car bookings and safe phone stock ensuring phones are charged and ready for distribution
  • Provide holistic wrap around support to women through general referral, form filling and advocacy support. Occasional outreach support to attend court and other appointments may be required
  • Develop awareness and understanding of other services in the South West Sydney providing support to women experiencing domestic violence
  • Review and contribute to updating program processes and procedural documents. Complete monthly reporting on client trends/needs/barriers identified during intake process

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in working with women, children and their families impacted by domestic and family violence;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and knowledge of barriers impacting on migrants and refugees;
  • Knowledge and skills to ensure the provision of culturally, gender and age-appropriate services to clients;
  • Excellent administrative and coordination skills
