About You

We are currently seeking 2 x DES Employment Consultants to work across Bankstown and Liverpool with previous experience in the Disability Employment Services (DES) sector to join our team as we are growing!

Reporting to the DES Team Leader, the DES Employment Consultant is focussed on finding sustainable employment outcomes for Participants within the DES program by actively identifying opportunities with local community organisations and employers through networking, business development and securing placements using a strength based, person centered and tailored approach to servicing.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop strong relationships with customers, both face-to-face and over the phone, to understand their situation, placement potential and the actions needed to assist them to become job ready.
  • Conduct appointments and guide customers through the process, identify barriers and develop an appropriate management plan and pathway.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with local employers, identifying new, ongoing and sustainable employment opportunities while developing a strong understanding of the local labour market; and
  • Actively seek new customers through networking and engaging with community organisations.

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Employment Services, Career Development, Disability Services, or other similar qualification not essential but desirable
  • Great attention to detail and experience working in government frameworks
  • Will be a people-person and have a strong customer focus.
  • Love achieving personal and professional goals.
  • Thrive on placing people into work and reaching sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Can work autonomously and prioritise your workload.
  • Show a high level of resilience and ability to remain calm and keep a positive attitude when responding to a range of situations.
  • Have experience in the employment services industry or demonstrated transferrable skills e.g. Community service, Sales, Customer service experience.
  • Previous experience working in the Disability Employment Services sector and an understanding of working with long term unemployed job seekers - desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing people with a disability or mental illness entering the workforce, or any lived experience in this area - desirable but not essential.
