About the Program

SafePath is focused on providing a dignity-driven culturally responsive approach to victim survivors who have been subjected to sexual violence. The new program sits within our Practice Management team who have been developing capacity within SSI to provide a trauma informed, confidential response to ensure victim survivors receive a safe evidence informed response to minimise risk and receive support for recovery.

About You

The Sexual Violence Practice Specialist is a part of the development and implementation of SafePath and the DFSV framework for the SSI Group and works to sustain a culture, systems and practices that enable continuous quality improvement in this area. The Sexual Violence Practice Specialist engages in coaching and mentoring, direct client response, and supports service delivery development related to sexual violence.

Responsibilities

  • Developing the SafePath approach for casework staff working with clients who have disclosed current or historical sexual violence. Including supporting staff to recognise sexual violence, identifying referral options, and producing resources.
  • Developing a SafePath approach for staff working with children and young people who disclose current or historical sexual abuse and how to support their families. Including supporting staff to recognise, identifying referral options, and producing resources.
  • Providing ongoing coaching support to casework staff, including facilitating learning circles, and providing consultations to staff.
  • Supporting/coaching clinical staff who work with clients who disclose sexual violence, including providing consultations and guidance.
  • Understanding of risk assessment and evidence-based safety planning
  • Provide emergency time limited response to clients if casework staff are unable to link client with appropriate services and need urgent support

Essential Criteria

  • Skills in providing trauma informed, culturally responsive and evidence informed coaching support
  • Demonstrated experience in building technical capability in client facing staff
  • Knowledge of services that provide support to victim survivors of sexual violence
  • Essential to have experience in the DFSV field especially in the sexual violence field
  • Consider staff who have backgrounds in social work, counselling, psychology, DFSV workers
