About the Role

The Specialised Settlement Worker will be responsible for the direct case coordination in Settlement & Youth Services Team and ensure contractual obligations under the relevant funding programs are met. The Specialised Settlement Worker will also conduct in-depth intake assessments, facilitate engagement, referrals and successful settlement outcomes to increase the independence and self-reliance of newly arrived refugee and migrant individuals and families. The role will hold a caseload of medium-intensity clients, providing information, advice and referrals as needed.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 3 years equivalent experience and/or Tertiary qualification in Social Work/ Human Services or relevant discipline
  • Lived experience of forceful displacement and migration
  • Experience in delivering culturally responsive services.
  • An understanding of skills and techniques to build client’s capacity to become independent in Australia.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the multicultural sector including relevant government policies and programs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to deal constructively with complex and sometimes conflicting situations.
  • Highly developed written and computer skills across a range of applications including client records management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative when problem-solving.

Desirable Experience

  • Minimum 3 years equivalent experience and/or Tertiary qualification mentioned above. Prior experience working with CARM community members would be highly regarded.
