The Safe, Healthy and Empowered Relationships (SHER) pilot program is a 16-week men’s domestic and family violence intervention program based in Logan QLD. It is offered to men from Dari speaking communities and is voluntarily participated by men who are wanting to take accountability for their behaviour. SHER supports men through group education approaches and provides brief case management while they are engaged in the program. The program is centred around the safety and wellbeing of victim-survivors and implements best practice risk and safety planning approaches for victim-survivors, SHER staff and men in the program.
The Women’s Support Worker is embedded in the SHER program to provide direct and individualised support to victim-survivors linked to men engaged in the SHER group behaviour change program. The SHER program is designed from the concept of improving safety and wellbeing of victim-survivors and children impacted by domestic and family violence through direct work with women requiring ongoing support while men are engaged in the program.
The Women’s Support Worker is a stand-alone function of the SHER program and reports to the Team Leader 99 Steps. This is a part-time 12 month contract, working 20 hours per week.
