Steering Healthy Minds

About Us

Steering Healthy Minds Australia Ltd.

In 2018 the Steering Healthy Minds (SHM), Steering Group was formed with the goal of driving change within the transport sector and improving mental health outcomes of workers within the industry by supplementing existing government regulations and safety laws, addressing the issues and minimising harm to workers.

SHM forged on as a collaboration between multiple parties interested in improving the mental health of those in the transport industry and minimising and preventing harm. Our focus is on ensuring workers are safe and supported through peer-to-peer mental health support programs.

In 2024, SHM launched as a registered not-for-profit organisation, and are proud to have already partnered with many small, medium and larger organisations who have trusted us to train their people to support their mental health awareness journey.

SHM Australia Ltd. is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with extensive experience across transport, mental health and the not-for profit sector.

Our Mission

To provide on the ground programs which support the mental health of workers in the transport industry.

The vision of SHM is to normalise the conversation about mental health issues in the same manner as physical injuries, to promote on the ground support for workers who experience mental health concerns, and to support organisations to establish peer to peer mental health programs for workers.
