Head of People Experience

Stile Education

At Stile, we create world-class resources for science teachers, whom we call superheroes because they are. Our resources (think videos, lesson plans, questions, simulations, activities and more!) spark excitement and curiosity in every student.

At the most basic level, we get kids thinking critically about the world around them and make evidence-based decisions for themselves and for their community. Have a read of our ‘why’ for more information.

Over 400,000 students and 8,000 teachers around the country and increasingly around the world use Stile, and we expect this to more than double in the next couple of years in line with our international expansion strategy (USA here we come!). That’s quite some reach, and it’s a responsibility we take very seriously.

The Stile team is made up of 70 incredible teachers, scientists, artists, and engineers who genuinely care about, and are working towards, improving scientific literacy amongst our young citizens.

That’s where you come in!

We’re looking for a Head of People Experience to join the team. This is a newly created role that will report to the CEO.

As the Head of People Experience, it won’t come as a surprise that you’ll be responsible for all things people. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the People & Culture team, develop a world class leadership program and position Stile as an employer of choice. As we evolve and grow, you’ll define and champion the culture we want at Stile.

The details

What’s in it for you

  • Colleagues worth working with. You’ll join an amazing 70-strong team of teachers, scientists, artists, and engineers. Imagine a workplace where everyone genuinely cares about, and is working towards, improving scientific literacy amongst our young citizens. We hold ourselves, and each other, to a high standard, and love what we do.
  • Working on something that really matters. In partnership with teachers, we’re coaching students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers. The internet democratised information. We believe that with a strong command of science, tomorrow’s citizens and leaders have a fighting chance of sorting the misinformation from the facts.
  • Support always. Stile is its people, and it’s important we are creating an environment where you’re supported, happy and able to do your best work. We have strong management and feedback frameworks, an Employee Assistance Program, a progressive parental leave policy, and much more!
  • A fantastic office environment. When we can, we spend time in the office. It has a huge central kitchen, lots of places to put your feet up to work and even end of trip facilities if you decide to ride in.
  • Flexibility. We expect that you work hard, but you’ll have flexible hours and you’re the master of your own schedule.
  • Your own professional development. We’re lifelong learners here at Stile. Alongside teaching you everything you need to know to succeed in this role, you’ll have the opportunity to attend internal and external PD.
  • A full IT set-up. A Mac laptop, and whatever other bits and pieces you need to be productive. We have a work-from-home reimbursement for all new Stilists to get their home set up as comfortable as theirs at Stile HQ.

Responsibilities

Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for making Stile(ists) successful.

  • Lead, mentor and coach a small People & Culture team.
  • Develop a program to empower a team of world class leaders.
  • Lead the development, implementation and improvement of people processes and systems.
  • Position Stile as an employer of choice.
  • Help define our future growth plans and people needs.
  • Provide high level strategic People & Culture advice to our Executive and Leadership team.

There is scope for this role to grow, potentially evolving into a Chief People Officer over time.

A bit more about you

  • You understand that outstanding people are what make an organisation and know how to elevate people and teams.
  • You bring strategy to life. You communicate a compelling vision that helps others understand business objectives and their role in making it happen.
  • You’ve got a genuine desire to help people improve their leadership practice, with an understanding that it isn’t everyone’s strength like it is yours.
