ABOUT US

St Laurence House (SLH) provides accommodation to homeless and at risk of being homeless young people in both a fully supported refuge and through our transitional housing program.

SLH supports young people to develop independent living skills to enable them to reach their full potential.

All staff work under SLH’s Practice Framework that ensures best practice in trauma informed care. Our work practices are client centred and we work with young people’s strengths and right to make their own choices.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Residential Youth Worker - Living Skills Worker provides direct support to young people in our fully supported accommodation program to assist them to work towards developing independent living skills.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Degree / Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work or other related Social Science qualification
  • Experience working in residential care/SHS services.
  • Ability to relate to and work effectively with young people who have experience disadvantage and present with complex needs.
  • An understanding of trauma informed principles and ability to implement this into practice.
  • Knowledge of SHS CIMS Data Collection
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Good understand of Microsoft Office
  • Drivers Licence
