Convenor (Identified) - Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making - Geraldton

Streeties

Streeties is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation that has been supporting Aboriginal children, youth and families in Geraldton for over three decades. Our current programs focus on encouraging young people and families to recognise and build on their existing strengths and connections within the community.

AFLDM convenors organise and facilitate family meetings so that Aboriginal families involved with the Department of Communities can participate and have a voice in the decisions made about their children. AFLDM convenors are independent of the Department of Communities, which is important to the integrity of the process. The convenor prepares the family for the meeting and provides a culturally safe space where they are supported to contribute to a family plan for the safety of the children.
