Board Chairperson - voluntary position

Sustain seeks to appoint an experienced and passionate leader with strong governance skills and a commitment to sustainable, vibrant and equitable food systems. Interested candidates must understand and enjoy the challenge of doing impactful work within a resource-constrained environment and the realities of the not-for-profit and/or community sector.

This role is a chance to actively contribute to transforming food systems in Australia. Your leadership will navigate the challenges of limited resources, driving innovative change and promoting social and environmental justice, including First Nations food sovereignty. The position will require a willingness to play an active role in shaping Sustain’s organisational development and achieving its strategic priorities.

As the incoming Chairperson, you will work with the current Chair and co-founder in leading Sustain through an exciting growth phase as it works towards the realisation of its new 5-year strategic plan and builds capacity in its processes, systems and programming. This is a unique opportunity to bring fresh perspectives, experience and expertise to Sustain’s mission.

As Chair, you will be supported by the current Chair, who will step into the Vice-Chair role on your commencement. The estimated time commitment is 15 hours/month.

Company Secretary - voluntary position

Sustain seeks to appoint a new Company Secretary with strong governance experience. Working with an active board and Sustain’s management team, the Company Secretary will support the board in ensuring Sustain’s governance practices comply with relevant legislation and best practices, while working within a resource-constrained environment and the challenging realities of the community sector.

The Company Secretary will play a key role in ensuring strong corporate governance role, in close collaboration with the Chair, Treasurer and Sustain management team. The estimated time commitment is 12-15 hours/month.
