THE OPPORTUNITY

SDC is seeking a positive, proactive and detailed-oriented Finance & Administration Assistant to support our team, while working under the guidance and mentoring of our Financial Accountant. This is a role offering variety, breadth and professional growth, as well as the opportunity to work alongside and support a passionate team positively contributing to the future.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts:

Support the Financial Accountant in a range of accounting tasks, including:

  • During the fortnightly processing of accounts receivable by generating reports and customer invoices
  • With accounts payable function by entering supplier bills into accounting software and creating payments in the banking portal
  • With month end tasks and reconciliations as needed

Payroll:

  • Provide payroll support to the Financial Accountant as part of the fortnightly processing of payroll including reviewing timesheets and leave requests
  • Provide support to the Financial Accountant as part of the processing and payment of Superannuation, PAYG and WorkCover.

Data Management:

  • Set up new projects in the Time & Billing software system
  • Maintain and update project and customer records within the Time & Billing software database
  • Under the direction of the Financial Accountant, assist with developing and improving finance related internal processes and systems
  • Assist with tasks in preparation of end of month and end of year processes and reports
  • Assist with the transition to new software systems.

Admin:

A willingness to be flexible and adaptable will be key to success in this role as responsibilities will be varied and include:

  • Answering phone enquiries and directing calls to the relevant team members
  • Preparing for client meetings and staff events
  • Catering and setup of our daily team morning teas
  • Maintaining and managing office supplies and stationery
  • Maintain asset/equipment registers
  • Assisting in preparing fee proposals using Word templates
  • Maintaining a tidy and clean work environment for our team and guests
  • Assisting the Financial Accountant, Directors and team as required

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Finance and Administration Assistant will report to and work directly under the Financial Accountant.

YOU’RE WELL SUITED TO THE ROLE IF YOU:

  • Have a Certificate or Diploma in business or accounting
  • Have aptitude and enthusiasm for learning new tasks and excellent attention to detail
  • Have experience using Xero, MYOB or other similar accounting software (desirable)
  • Are highly proficient computer skills and are competent in the use of Microsoft Office and in particular, Excel and spreadsheet skills
  • Have experience in providing payroll support (desirable)
  • Can work proactively and autonomously and complete tasks as directed
  • Are well presented and have strong organisational skills
  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and excellent phone manner (we are a consultancy after all!)
  • Work with a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative and supportive environment

SDC’s effective 75-hour working fortnight means you have flexibility around working 9 or 10 days per fortnight. This flexibility extends to the hours you work each day, as well as your start and finish times.

Our bright, open-plan Melbourne office located in the heart of Camberwell is close to public transport, central to a vast array of amenities, and has on-site parking and end-of-trip facilities also available.

Supporting our team and clients on-site will be an important requirement of this role, however hybrid working is also on offer, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote working for certain aspects of this varied position.
