About the Role

This position is instrumental in enhancing the University's administration of clinical research governance and implementing efficient research governance processes to support the university's research endeavours effectively.

The Research Governance Lead at Swinburne University, reporting to the Manager of Research Ethics, Integrity, Governance, and Biosafety, is a critical position responsible for upholding ethical standards and research integrity within the University community. Working within the Research Ethics, Integrity, and Biosafety (REIB) Team under Swinburne Research Services, this role involves integrating best practices in clinical research governance and overseeing governance programs, policies, and initiatives. The Research Governance Lead collaborates with various stakeholders, including academic and professional staff, research students, and external partners, to promote a culture of robust governance.

Operating under broad direction and in collaboration with key university divisions such as Legal Services, Governance and Assurance, Graduate Research, and ethics committee secretariats, the Research Governance Lead ensures the university's compliance with internal, government, and funder policies related to clinical trial research and broader clinical research governance.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Excellent project management, organisational and problem-solving skills to deliver effective and timely outcomes
  • Extensive experience in an Ethics/Governance Office or in a clinical trial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise significant judgement in relation to key decisions related to good governance, and to provide sound advice and commentary on issues
  • Sound understanding of relevant industry standards, codes, and governance guidelines related to human clinical trials management and clinical research more broadly

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification and extensive relevant experience or combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in clinical research governance
