The role
Working as part of a dynamic team of community organisers to train, develop and build the power within a network of organisations by developing leaders, strengthening partner organisations and our Alliance, winning on issues and changing the landscape of power in NSW. This is through the art of community organising.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing teams of Alliance leaders to:
- Listen and host listening meetings (table talks)
- Participate and lead research action and power analysis on key issues related to the Alliance agenda for the common good
- Produce and execute community actions
- Developing skills in turnout and then turning large groups of relationally connected people to community actions
- Participate and run evaluation
- Run community organising training
- Building diverse volunteer teams to pull together large-scale public actions.
- Communications work (social media posts, media releases, updates to website, photos).
- Grant writing and acquittal, pitching for resources.
- Facilitating and coordinating projects with diverse range of Alliance partners.
- Delivering, refining and recruiting for training through the foundations Training & National Training (6 days)
- Working with the team to oversee, coach, and train a group of up to 10 assistant organisers. Including:
- Mentoring in the art of community organising and leadership 10. Connecting theories of social work to community organising practice
- Administrative function – reviewing learning plans and mid-placement reports (you will be trained in this).
- Tasks – setting and reviewing tasks with the Assistant organisers in the pursuit of the needs of the Alliance.
- Support function – assisting the management of job-related stress, sustaining morale, and developing a feeling of worth, competence, and sense of belonging. Particularly for students from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly international students
