What we are looking for
We are looking for motivated, resilient, outgoing and caring individuals to support adults with disability across the Sutherland Shire. When you join our dynamic team, you’ll be making a significant contribution to the lives of people with disability to reach their goals and achieve their potential.
Working as a disability support worker is one of the most rewarding and challenging careers you can pursue. As a dedicated and flexible team member, you will work in a 24/7 Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment (home) supporting our customers to live the life they want. Supports vary from customer to customer, and from day to day. Care needs are individualised and tailored to meet each customer’s needs including:
- Community-based outings
- Daily living tasks
- Domestic assistance
- Following established routines and structure
- Maintaining connections to families and other important stakeholders
- Meal preparation
- Medication administration and support for medical appointments
- Personal care
- Skill building and capacity development
- Support with effective communication techniques
- Supporting customers with emotional regulation and complex behaviours of concerns
- Supporting customers to achieve their goals
- Transport

- Health care plans e.g. diabetes, epilepsy
- Being flexible, agile and great at problem solving on the go
- Completing and documenting shift duties
- Having a positive attitude and ability to think outside the box
What you need to be successful in the role
- Certificate III or IV in Disability or equivalent accreditation in social science or community services or equivalent experience
- Ability to work across a wide range of shifts including morning, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays (24/7)
- Demonstrate an understanding of person-centred care and active support
- Demonstrate experience with Customer Management Systems to maintain accurate records and Microsoft programs such as Outlook and Teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 2 years’ experience working with people who display complex behaviours of concern and the ability to implement health care plans
- Be physically fit to safely perform the role
- Current NDIS worker screening check
- Current NSW drivers’ licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
- COVID Vaccination
