About the role

The Research Analyst, Road Safety will assist in guiding the design, implementation and reporting of the TAC’s road safety social research program and undertake analysis to derive insights from road safety data working with the Senior Data Analyst & Social Research Lead. Success in this role will see you assist in the delivery of the Road Safety Research, Insight and Evaluation team’s social research program as well as actively working with Road Safety’s data sets and systems, whilst ensuring data and research accuracy.

About the Team

The Research Analyst, Road Safety sits within the Planning, Research, Insights & Technology branch within the broader Road Safety division. Reporting directly into the Manager, you will be supported by and work closely with the Senior Data Analyst and Social Research Lead. The team are primarily Geelong office based and have a Tuesday as their office anchor day, two days will be office based work and then the remaining two days can be flexible with what works best for you. What we’re looking for

Research and analytical support

  • Support and assist in guiding the TAC Road Safety Research, Insights and Evaluation team’s social research program with sampling methodologies, research questionnaire development and review, research program progress, reporting, knowledge translation and supporting the management of research panels
  • Support the provision of data analysis and reporting of quantitative road safety data to provide insight into fatality and serious injury statistics, produce reports and track performance against relevant key performance indicators
  • Manage Road Safety’s internal databases and systems, maintaining and updating statistical information on websites
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with business and research stakeholders across the TAC and with the TAC’s road safety partners, research suppliers, national and international road safety organisations, authorities and research bodies, and members of the general public
  • Demonstrated expertise in communicating clearly and effectively in a variety of contexts and to a wide range of audiences.

Research and analytical experience and/or qualification

  • Tertiary, or other relevant qualification(s) or demonstrable on the job experience in a relevant discipline i.e. 4 year degree in psychology / social sciences / or other relevant discipline (highly desirable) and;
  • Demonstrated experience in an analytical role in the area of social research, preferably in road safety research

Curiosity

  • Curious, proactive and open-minded work style and mind-set
  • Coordinate research projects conducted by external research providers (e.g. the Annual Road Safety Monitor), ensuring timelines and objectives are met
  • Keep abreast of the relevant road safety and injury prevention academic / research literature
  • Contribute to the development of high quality computer based systems, complex programs and solutions, including associated governance, for the appropriate management of road safety data
