Take Two provides a range of therapeutic services for infants, children and young people who have suffered trauma, neglect, and disrupted attachment, and contributes to the service system that provides care, support and protection for these children.

The Restoring Childhood Model (RCM) is a specific approach used by the Take Two to provide therapeutic support to children aged 0-18, and their caregivers who are experiencing or recovering from family violence.

The Opportunity 

The Senior Clinician position is responsible for carrying a caseload of clients at various stages of care, including, assessment, treatment, and closure. The role includes providing therapeutic interventions ranging from short to long-term, typically involving individual, dyadic, and family-based sessions with children and young people and their families. In addition to this caseload, the Clinician will support the intake team by conducting intake assessments and providing brief interventions to families referred to the service.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Clinician role is flexible, with responsibilities adapting to the needs of the team. Core objectives include delivering therapeutic interventions, supervising clinicians, and collaborating with stakeholders, with emphasis on specific activities like direct service delivery or intake coordination as required.

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, managing a caseload of varying complexity while meeting agreed targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship, supporting clinicians' professional growth, best practices, and achievement of individual and team targets.
  • Assess therapeutic readiness and develop therapeutic plans for own cases and support supervisees in aligning their plans with trauma-informed frameworks, organisational policies, program case flow and goals.
  • Undertake intake activities, including pre-referral consultations, assessments, and brief interventions for families as required.
  • Facilitate and participate in case reviews and reflective practice sessions, focusing on trauma, attachment, and family violence to guide effective interventions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consortium partners, and stakeholders to ensure integrated service delivery and program outcomes.
  • Maintain high standards of client documentation and data compliance, ensuring timely reporting and supporting supervisees in meeting these standards.
  • Contribute to program development, quality improvement, and innovation, leveraging clinical expertise to enhance outcomes and meet targets.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and contribute to program success through flexibility, collaboration, and problem-solving.

ABout you

Our ideal candidate will have sound decision making skills, reflected in excellent clinical judgements and a high degree of self-discipline, reflected in the ability to provide targeted clinical services within strict time-frames.

  • An understanding of the Child and Family Services sector and an understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2006 and Family Violence Protection Act 2008.
  • Experience in working from a feminist framework in the family violence domain.
  • Experience in using family violence risk assessments. 
  • An understanding of the issues involved in working with families with diverse needs - i.e. CALD or disability (physical, sensory, intellectual or psychiatric)

An appropriate Bachelor degree level or higher qualification in a Health or Welfare related field such as Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy, Speech Pathology or related discipline is required, desirably you have training (e.g.EMDR) or experience in working with vulnerable children, adults and families, individually and in group work.
