About the role

As an Assistant Auditor-General, you will play a crucial leadership role in shaping the strategic direction of the Office, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit services, and lead an engaged and capable team.

You will:

  • Lead audit programs and ensure quality and efficiency
  • Provide expert advice and manage audit teams
  • Research and advise on audit-related issues and contribute to strategic planning
  • Represent the Office and promote ethical behaviour.

Skills and experience

You will showcase your:

  • Strategic leadership and planning: Ability to develop and implement strategies, influence others, and lead change.
  • Financial expertise: Strong understanding of accounting, auditing, and financial management principles.
  • Stakeholder management: Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including government officials, community groups, and industry representatives.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in financial analysis, data analysis, and evaluation of complex audits.
  • Ethical conduct: Commitment to high standards of professional and ethical behaviour.
  • Analytical and communication skills: Ability to prepare insightful reports, clearly communicate audit findings and recommendations to the Auditor-General and Tasmanian Parliament.

Qualifications and experience

You will have:

  • Completed a recognised accounting or auditing certificate program, that includes either 3 years supervised or mentored practical experience or 5 years unsupervised practical experience in accounting or auditing; OR
  • Either 3 years supervised or mentored practical experience or 5 years unsupervised practical experience in a relevant discipline.

About our Office
