Operations Manager - Child Protection - Bairnsdale / Sale

The Operations Manager has operational decision making and is responsible for effective service responses that improves outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and their families in the statutory Child Protection program.

The role is responsible for effective service delivery that meets departmental performance. Building workforce capability and ensuring the support and supervision of all staff within the program is a key role of the position. The position directly supervises the Deputy Area Operations Managers and other roles where required.

Competitive base salary and salary packaging for the right candidate - $130,000 - $154,000 base + super + relocation assistance on offer for the right person.

The ideal person for the role will have the following experience & expertise;

  • Problem solving - integrates knowledge and internal insight with leading practice and research to address problems
  • Practice leadership - leads children, families, and stakeholders through child protection assessment and decision making in an open, informed, proactive, and assertive manner
  • Demonstrate expert skills in managing people and resources, including senior staff, ensuring that the area is delivering on and meeting its statutory responsibilities, including the provision of a quality child protection program
  • Child centred and family focused relationship-based practice - focuses on the child and incorporates the family and social network, to deliver timely and proactive solutions
  • Case planning review and management
  • Risk assessment and analysis

To be eligible to apply:

  • A Social Work Degree or similar or a recognised Diploma of Community Services
  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in Child Protection
  • Broad understanding of child development and risks as well as the legislative and statutory framework – (understands and embeds the Child Youth and Families Act (2005) in practice, including the core responsibilities and principles of the Act.)
  • Works confidently with Aboriginal children and families, families impacted by drug and alcohol abuse, and family violence
  • Confidently prepares for court - initiates, prepares, and presents in Children’s Court, or other tribunals
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) card

The role is based in either Bairnsdale or Sale & will be servicing the Outer Gippsland Child Protection offices in the area. You can enjoy country living while making an impact within child protection system in Victoria.
