Program Coordinator

Teacher Learning Network
  • Teaching qualification required

The Teacher Learning Network is seeking a Program Coordinator to coordinate the design, development and delivery of a program of professional development courses for teachers in schools and early childhood settings.

The position is a long service leave replacement role from Monday 15th April (or earlier if available) through to Friday 4th October. The position may be offered from three days per week through to full time depending on the skills, experience and availability of the successful applicant.

Program Coordinators design, develop and coordinate the delivery of a program of professional development to a cohort of leaders, teachers and education support staff. TLN has well developed systems to support Program Coordinators in this process. Currently programs are predominantly live online and recorded on-demand short courses.

Program Coordinators will bring additional skills to the role which they are asked to apply across the organisation e.g. high level technical skills, social media and marketing experience. For this position experience in organisational membership growth and development will be highly valued.

The TLN office is located in the AEU building in Trenerry Crescent Abbotsford. Currently TLN staff have a hybrid model of working. There is an expectation that each staff member will work approximately 40% of their allocated hours in the TLN office. Currently all staff work in the office on a Tuesday to participate in staff and team meetings.

Flexibility in working hours is required as many TLN courses that require the presence of a Program Coordinator are delivered after regular office hours. Staff are allocated to evening sessions on a roster basis and there is both consultation and flexibility in that roster.

TLN has its own staff agreement. Salaries follow the VGSA salary scales. There are generous and flexible leave conditions and superannuation is paid at 16%.

Selection Criteria

  • A teaching qualification and experience in an education setting (school or early childhood) is presumed, though a training qualification and diverse experience could also be acceptable. Postgraduate qualifications are valued.
  • High level of competence with technology applications including expertise across the standard range of Microsoft Office programs is required along with a capacity to quickly learn new programs (TLN has its own database, 2 x LMS, and uses multiple software applications to coordinate course delivery).
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to work in a small multi-skilled customer service focused team.
  • A willingness to move between high level stakeholder engagement and mundane administrative tasks in delivering an effective service to members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to union values. This is an important criterion and should be addressed in an application.

If you would like more information about the role please call the TLN office on 7064 4362 and ask for Kate Chinner.

A position description is attached.
