Role Purpose
Teach For Australia’s (TFA) mission statement calls for us to ‘grow a community of leaders committed to equity’. This role leads the Community team in stewarding our long-term return on this commitment by cultivating the sense of community experienced by program participants and by developing the leadership and equity-focused impact of our program Alumni, throughout their careers.
The ideal candidate will bring:
Essential
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. education, business management, marketing etc.) or equivalent level experience.
- If you have lived experience with educational inequity and/or come from a diverse background, we are keen to hear how your lived experience would enhance your ability to perform this role.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to embrace new approaches and drive innovation.
- Demonstrated influencing and communication skills, with an aptitude for inspiring and mobilising a diverse community.
- Experience managing a relevant community of connected individuals (Alumni being just one example), creating networks and collective alliances amongst individuals with shared vision
- Proven skills in project planning, budgeting, and delivery with adaptability and problem solving skills to deliver strategic business priorities
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and management preferably in an education or non-profit setting
Desirable
- Previous experience with community-driven advocacy and change management.
- Alumni of a “Teach For” program, or significant involvement in similar organisations.
- Understanding of education equity issues, policy landscapes, and grassroots organising, including teaching, especially in a low income, regional or remote community.
