We have an opportunity available for an Aboriginal Project Officer to join Embrace at The Kids Research Institute, Western Australia’s first research collaboration devoted to the mental health of infants, children and young people ages 0-25.
The Project Officer will support the co-design, development, and implementation of culturally safe and responsive, trauma-informed research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. The research will have social and emotional benefits for families by strengthening a sense of connectedness with family, kin, country and culture, and Indigenous identity.
You will play an integral role within our Aboriginal and non-Indigenous research team and will contribute to a variety of activities to help facilitate this project and other Embrace events as directed. One of your key focuses will be to facilitate yarning circles, which may be gender specific, and so in this role we are specifically recruiting one male Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to ensure cultural protocols are followed.
With an experienced project team around you, you will also have an opportunity to contribute to the following activities:
Conveniently located in our modern office in Nedlands, this position will be offered on a part-time basis (4 days per week), however, hours can be negotiated with the successful candidate. The contract will be offered for 1 year in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
