Temple Society Australia

ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION

The Temple Society Australia (TSA) is an independent progressive Christian community based in Melbourne. At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to building a more just, compassionate world in harmony with our environment – achieved through strong community connections. This vision drives and informs all our actions:

  • Fairer – a deep commitment to social justice
  • Kinder – compassion and dignity for all
  • More sustainable – living in harmony with our environment

The values of trust, acceptance and respect are the cornerstones of our community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role exists to ensure the day-to-day and strategic operations of TSA run smoothly, effectively and in alignment with our purpose and values. As Community Operations Executive, you’ll provide key operational leadership to support the organisation’s efficiency and ensure it remains on track with its strategic objectives.

This is a varied, people-focused role that offers a balance of strategic and operational responsibilities. You’ll provide leadership and direction across our activities, working closely with Council, staff, volunteers and contractors. From driving the implementation of our strategic plan to ensuring compliance and operational effectiveness, you’ll play a central role in turning broader vision into practical action – strengthening internal systems, supporting good governance, fostering collaboration, enhancing communication and contributing to a positive, well-connected community.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a highly capable, hands-on leader with experience managing the operations of a not-for-profit or community-based organisation. You combine strategic thinking with the ability to roll up your sleeves and you thrive on variety and complexity.

You bring strong skills in business and people management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement and compliance. You know how to build trust, communicate clearly and navigate sensitive issues with professionalism and care. You’re organised, proactive and values-driven, with a genuine commitment to inclusive, ethical and community-centred leadership.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior operational or executive role
  • Proven ability to lead and support staff and manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong skills in business administration, HR, policy development and financial reporting
  • Experience working with or within a not-for-profit or membership-based organisation
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (desirable)
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and empathetic leadership style

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

  • Hybrid work options
  • Positive, people-first organisational culture
  • Opportunities to shape the future of a progressive community organisation
