The Anne Kantor (General) Fellowship has been established to develop the next generation of change-makers by providing Fellows with a unique opportunity to gain on-the-job training and experience. During the 12-month (or part-time equivalent) Fellowship, you will learn how to undertake research and advocacy, turn ideas into reality, and gain a broad understanding of how public policy gets made in Australia.

About the opportunity

Working in one of the Australia Institute research teams, you will undertake research, prepare reports, and support governance functions while learning how to disseminate and communicate your research results. Fellows will also gain experience in organising and promoting events, workshops, and seminars in relation to research projects.

Fellows are paid $55,000 per annum, plus super. A $2,000 relocation allowance is also available to Fellows relocating from interstate. In 2024, there are positions available in our Canberra office and one position available in Tasmania. 

About you

Fellowships are open to applicants at any point in their career. Previous Fellows have included people at all stages of their careers, including recent graduates and those returning to work.

The only requirements are that applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Economics, Politics, Law, Environment, etc.), and be available to commence no later than 1 February 2024.

  • A good writer and fast learner;
  • A skilled communicator; and
  • A team player who enjoys working with a high-performing team to get results and create lasting impact.
