Overall Function

The Manager for Justice & Equity Learning will help increase organisational capacity and accountability for justice and equity at EDF. This includes developing and overseeing with Justice & Equity (J&E) team leaders the implementation of a training plan to ensure all staff members have the knowledge to engage in meaningful partnerships and advance equitable systemic change. It also includes developing and delivering assessments to measure learning; and strategically adapting training curricula as needed. The ideal candidate for this role will have expertise in organisational training and learning design, and knowledge of environmental justice, and equity. This position will report to the Senior Director, Justice & Equity Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the implantation of a training plan with multiple levels of engagement to increase staff knowledge, skills, and abilities around environmental justice and equity.
  • Drive the strategy to accomplish EDF’s 2025 cultural competency goals to ensure all staff has foundational knowledge of environmental and climate justice (ECJ) issues.
  • Supervise one or more consultants to help achieve desired goals.
  • Provide comprehensive preparation and review of all facilitator and course materials prior to delivery, including managing all aspects of virtual or in-person delivery.
  • Develop and deliver assessments to measure learning towards defined goals; identify options for adjusting curricula to advance learning; and document improvements or achievements of individuals or the cohort collectively.
  • Continuous learning on best practices in learning design, delivery, and accessibility.
  • Coordinate with Organisational Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and Community Outreach teams on trainings.
  • Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals, in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organisational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least six years related work experience, or advanced degree with at least four years of direct experience (the degree requirement may be waived altogether for a candidate who can successfully demonstrate commensurate professional experience along with excellence in their past roles).
  • Experience with instructional design.
  • Experience working with environmental and climate justice subject matter experts to design learning curricula for large groups preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration across diverse constituencies in a large organisation with the aim of inclusively expanding the learning culture.
  • Proven ability to organise workshops, conferences, and trainings, and lead effective discussions.
  • Ability to create inclusive and accessible adult learning environments, both virtually and in person.
  • Understanding of environmental justice, equity, inclusion, power dynamics, and vulnerable and marginalised groups affected by climate and environmental challenges preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to problem solve.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated project and people management skills, including the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
  • Creative and innovative thinker willing to challenge the status quo and propose new ideas and opportunities.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and lead a team in a fast-paced, dynamic and creative environment.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard business software, including Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Hiring Range

We offer a strong total rewards package encompassing competitive salary, robust benefits, and professional development opportunities consistent with a modern global organisation.

The pay range for this role is 83,000 - 93,000 USD which takes into account factors such as candidate experience, skills, training, internal team equity and local norms.
