Overall Function
The Manager for Justice & Equity Learning will help increase organizational capacity and accountability for justice and equity at EDF. This includes developing and overseeing with Justice & Equity (J&E) team leaders the design and implementation of a training plan to ensure all staff members have the knowledge to engage in meaningful partnerships and advance equitable systemic change. It also includes helping design and implement an Intensive training in environmental and climate justice for select staff, and designing and managing learning networks of staff integrating justice and equity practices into their work. It includes overseeing consultants and assisting with developing and delivering assessments to measure learning and adapt training curricula as needed. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong expertise in adult learning design and training; experience in the environmental or nonprofit sector; and familiarity with and commitment to environmental and climate justice and equity. This position will report to the Senior Director, Justice & Equity Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee training for staff at multiple levels to increase staff knowledge, skills, and abilities around environmental justice and equity while developing and providing a portfolio of relevant training, coaching, platforms, materials, etc. to ensure that staff and leaders are equipped to uphold the Justice and Equity Vision and Principles.
- Facilitate groups where necessary to promote conversations, cross sharing, and initiatives around Justice and Equity.
- Drive the strategy to accomplish EDF's 2025 cultural competency goals to ensure all staff has foundational knowledge of environmental and climate justice (ECJ).
- Manage and support internal learning networks of staff engaged in environmental and climate justice work. Support the preparation and review of facilitator and course materials prior to delivery, including managing all aspects of virtual or in-person delivery.
- Support the development of assessments to measure learning towards defined goals; identify options for adjusting curricula to advance learning; and document improvements or achievements of individuals or the cohort collectively.
- Engage in continuous learning on best practices in learning design, delivery, and accessibility.
- Coordinate with Organizational Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and Community Outreach teams on trainings.
- Supervise consultants and staff.
- Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals, in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least six years related work experience, or advanced degree with at least four years of direct experience (the degree requirement may be waived altogether for a candidate who can successfully demonstrate commensurate professional experience along with excellence in their past roles).
- At least two years of experience with adult learning design, and best practices in adult education and training required.
- Proven ability to foster collaboration across diverse constituencies in a large, global organization with the aim of inclusively expanding the learning culture.
- Proven ability to organize workshops, conferences, and trainings, and lead effective discussions with staff at varying levels.
- Demonstrated experience in building community (could be any form).
- Proven ability to create inclusive and accessible adult learning environments, virtually, in person and hybrid.
- Experience in environmental or nonprofit organizations required.
- Understanding of, and ability to manage for, justice, equity, inclusion, privilege, and power dynamics among groups.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to independently develop solutions and problem solve in ambiguous or unfamiliar situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Creative and innovative thinker willing to challenge the status quo and propose new ideas and opportunities.
- Proven ability to work both independently and lead a team—formally and informally—in a fast-paced, dynamic and creative environment.
- Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Expertise in climate and environmental justice preferred but not required.
- Experience working outside of North America desired but not required.
- Proficiency in the use of standard business software, including Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
