TNC is a dynamic NFP community service that provides early intervention and prevention services to families and individuals specifically in the areas of family and parenting support, homelessness prevention/early intervention and DFV case coordination services. TNC works with community in the disciplines of casework, counselling, parenting programs, advice, referrals, advocacy and group work.

Funded by Mission Australia, this role (based at the TNC office in West Ryde) will work with the Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) Early Intervention team to provide support and advocacy to people who are at risk of homelessness, to remain safely in their existing accommodation or secure alternative safe and sustainable accommodation.

Salary is based on the SCHADS Award Level 4; between $85,126.08 to $91,587.60 per annum (in accordance with your skills, knowledge, and experience) + Super. There is generous salary packaging as well as monthly external team clinical supervision, personal training budget and EAP provision available for this role.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and previous case work experience
  • Demonstrated high levels of motivation and strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues that lead to homelessness and previous experience or ability to identify and navigate affordable housing options for clients
  • Direct experience and demonstrated skill in supporting referrals to address client vulnerabilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the sector and referral options across the Northern Sydney district
  • Direct experience and demonstrated skill in working with clients facing a range of issues and significant experience working with at least three of the following client groups:
    • People experiencing homelessness, or at imminent risk of homelessness
    • Women and children leaving DFV
    • Substance misuse, particularly alcohol, drug and/or gambling addictions
    • People experiencing chronic and/or acute mental health
    • At risk and vulnerable community individuals and families
  • Strong computer literacy skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of the importance of WHS
  • Current driver's license

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Multilingual
  • Community engagement experience in an outreach capacity
  • Previous experience working in the Social/Community Housing sector
