Applications are currently being sought for a dynamic, proactive and hardworking Administration Support Officer.

  • Salary: $84,543 – $92,303 per annum + 15% super + 9 day fortnight - Dependent on experience

Overview of Position:

The Administration/Business Support Officer is required to provide high level, professional and efficient administrative support with minimal supervision to the Trainer and Development Coordinator. This fast paced role would suit a highly organised, strong service focused individual who is efficient, has an eye for detail and enjoys managing multiple priorities, utilising sound judgement, discretion and initiative in the absence of established policy and procedures to achieve expected outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Send bulk emails i.e. newsletters or information to members, delegates and internally; save on either employer/member database record, on relevant ASU electronic file and onto ASU website.
  • Assist in the answering of the phone.
  • Check General email inbox and forward to relevant person/area or follow up basic requests in accordance with relevant process.
  • Organise travel and accommodation for staff, members and any other person so identified. Providing the Finance office with the reconciled associated credit card expenditures.
  • In conjunction with the Member Benefit Officers and other Operational Administration Officers, maintain the membership data base by updating member and employer records as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of surveys and collection of survey data, Assist in the formatting of survey data and outcomes for distribution.
  • When required assist with general maintenance of office records, preparation of membership reports, tools and materials (utilising office systems) for organising activities for Delegates and the Organising Teams.
  • When required assist staff in setting up Zoom and Teams meetings.
  • Assist when required with the preparations for Branch Executive meetings; Branch Council meetings; delegates conferences and other events. This includes designing and preparing presentations; ordering and setting up of room and catering requirements and clean down.
  • When required order promotional materials including arranging quotes for materials, placing orders; unpacking and reconciling order to delivery sheet and storing merchandise.

Selection Criteria:

  • High level of Administration/Business support experience.
  • High standard of both written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work.
  • Working as part of a team and independently.
  • High level of computer skill in:
    • Word processing (Word)
    • Excel
    • Outlook
    • Powerpoint
    • Survey Monkey
    • Teams and SharePoint
    • Canva or Indesign
  • Outstanding organisational skills with a strong eye for detail.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems with demonstrated sound reasoning and judgment.

  • Commitment to unionism.
  • Ability to acquire broad knowledge of The Services Union administrative operational requirements.
  • Open drivers’ licence.
