ROLE

The Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Officer is responsible for supporting all proposals submitted for Alinea's consulting division. Our consulting division utilises our in-house specialists on an array of short-term advisory services for international governments, organisations, and donors. Each consultant bills out their time to their portfolio of work throughout the year. A critical process in ensuring the ongoing success of the consulting division is Business Development to ensure there is sufficient work for our consulting personnel.

Consulting opportunities tend to be of small value, with a high volume of submissions and wins necessary to sustain sufficient work. The Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Team, consisting of this role and a Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Manager, will be expected to sustain a high turnover of high-quality bids.

The Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Officer role includes supporting all business development processes, including lead generation, coordinating the preparation of bids and assisting in writing high-quality and compelling proposal content. Our consultants retain primary responsibility for designing methodologies and technical approaches that will be used in each proposal, which will form significant components of the final bid. The Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Team will write sections of the bids and must be able to deliver persuasive written arguments in tight time constraints. This role will also be responsible for developing content for company collateral to support the bid process.

This position will report to the Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Manager, who manages the Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Team. The Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Officer will work closely with the Consulting Proposals and Opportunities Manager to support the consulting division in securing future work.

This position does not require specialist knowledge of International Development, but strong writing and coordination skills, attention to detail, and a passion for producing high-quality written and visual outputs.

  • Reformatting documents including CVs from external specialists in word.
  • Analysing tender documents to understand client requirements and to help ensure compliance of the bid and internal processes.
  • Ensuring the completeness and cohesiveness of clarifications that arise in the post- bidding phase.
  • Maintaining the database of past proposals and relevant documentation to streamline future bid processes.
  • Ongoing development of company collateral, including past experience statements, company profiles, consultant CVs, and general marketing material.
