ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Thomastown Neighbourhood House (TNH) is seeking a dedicated and community-minded President to join our Committee of Management. This voluntary role is ideal for someone passionate about community development in Thomastown and within the City of Whittlesea.

TNH is a welcoming and inclusive space where everyone belongs. As President, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of TNH, fostering connections, and ensuring the organisation remains a valuable resource for the community. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop leadership experience, build networks, and make a meaningful impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

While the TNH Manager oversees day-to-day operations, the President and Committee focus on governance, long-term sustainability and strategic direction to ensure TNH continues to thrive.

As President you will:

• Chair Committee of Management Monthly Meetings via zoom
• Ensure strong governance to support compliance, financial sustainability, policy development and risk management
• Focus on the long-term strategic health of TNH, ensuring sustainability and growth
• Strengthen stakeholder relationships with government, partners, and community groups

ABOUT YOU

We welcome individuals who:

• Have a passion for community, inclusion, and connection
• Enjoy building stakeholder relationships and advocating for community needs
• Have experience in governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, or policy development (preferred but not essential)

Governance training and support will be provided to help the new President transition into the role with confidence

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: FLEXIBILITY

Please note this is a voluntary role with flexible working conditions to suit everyone including full time workers, full time parents, working parents, tertiary level students and busy retirees. The Committee of Management meetings take place monthly on a Thursday evening via Zoom. Time commitment outside of the monthly meeting is minimal and any extra training or meetings will be scheduled in consultation with the Committee of Management, based on availability.
