About the program/role

The Financial Counselling team at Thorne Harbour Health (THH) provides vital support to LGBTIQ+ communities experiencing financial hardship, housing insecurity, and economic inequality.

The Financial Counsellor will play a crucial role in delivering free, confidential, and non-judgmental financial support to LGBTIQ+ and HIV+ individuals facing financial hardship. While the primary focus is on rental and mortgage stress, the role also offers tailored financial advice, advocacy, and empowerment strategies to help clients manage debt and navigate financial challenges related to family violence and AOD issues.

To be considered for the role, candidates must hold the following qualifications:

  • Diploma of Financial Counselling;
  • Eligibility for membership with Financial Counselling Australia (FCA) or relevant state-based association.
