The Role

As part of the Executive Team, this role is accountable for all operational functions of the organisation including finance, risk and compliance, legal, HR, IT, governance (including as Company Secretary), reporting, events and communications.

Leading a team of 3-4 internally and working with several external advisors and service providers, this role works closely with the CEO and the rest of the Executive Team to ensure ASFI achieves its ambitious goals and delivers on its objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Governance:

  • Act as Company Secretary for ASFI, including coordinating Board agendas and papers, writing Board minutes, and managing Board elections.
  • Ensure lodgement of all statutory reporting with ACNC and ASIC.

Risk and Compliance:

  • Build out and implement compliance and risk processes within the organisation in line with Board decisions and organisational maturity.

Finance:

  • Coordinate and manage external auditors for effective completion of annual and periodic organisational and program audits.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting and budget processes.
  • Strategic financial advice to CEO and Board.

Operations:

  • Lead team to deliver all operational aspects of the organisation including policies, processes, supplier agreements and deliver of IT, office and equipment, corporate travel, knowledge management, organisational administration.
  • Internal audit and improvement function in line with organisational maturity.

About You

You are adept at working in a small environment where people's opinions are valued and listened to. You are energised by a dynamic work environment. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and have a go at things and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Accounting qualifications and at least 5 years experience leading a finance or operations including function in a similar organisation.

Key Expertise:

  • Strong commercial acumen combined with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Experience building, managing and/or leading operational functions in similar organisations.
  • Strong understanding of organisational governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and right size operations functions of an organisation based on the organisation’s strategic objectives, organisational size and maturity.
