The Role

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Fundraising Lead to strengthen TEC’s financial longevity and campaigns by identifying and pursuing opportunities that will enhance TEC’s fundraising efforts (individual donations, corporate and philanthropic), grow brand awareness, and strengthen relationships with funders, partners, and the community.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on seizing new opportunities, building connections, and creatively amplifying impact.

Particular focus will be placed on:

  • Developing a fundraising strategy building on our existing approaches
  • Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, grants, and strategic partnerships.
  • Assist with diversifying revenue streams
  • Expanding the philanthropic and corporate funding opportunities

The position involves hands-on fundraising, strong pitch development skills, and a proven track-record of building strong relationships. It is in addition to our current twice yearly appeal to supporters and involves expanding on our current promotions profile. You will be working closely with the Deputy Director, our Campaign Managers and senior campaign staff, and the Executive Director. You will report directly to the Deputy Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pro-actively monitor campaigns for fundraising opportunities
  • Explore and organise approaches to funding sources (philanthropic foundations, corporate partners).
  • Assist in developing compelling grant proposals and funding applications, both proactively and reactively.
  • Work with the Deputy Director and Executive Director on new fundraising and campaign strategies and initiatives to diversify revenue, including upgrading our ad hoc bequest program and others.
  • Be part of the team maintaining strategic campaign direction and program development
  • Support the development of project budgets, ensuring they are realistic and financially sustainable.
  • Assist TEC staff at fundraising/networking events and with growing our donor pipeline, including high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and foundations.

Requisite skills

  • Degree in a relevant qualification such as business, marketing, sales, communication, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience or experience raising revenue and experience in major gift and foundation fundraising, ideally within the non-profit sector or applicable experience in another industry.
  • Experience in developing fundraising strategies
  • Experience in public speaking to a small to medium audience
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Availability for and willingness to travel
  • Work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings)
  • Willingness to attend and assist at events when necessary

Desirable skills:

  • Grant writing experience
  • Experience within the nature and plastic campaigning spaces
  • Experience in working effectively with volunteers or community groups
  • Experience working with CRM, EDM, and CMS programs such as Wordpress, Nationbuilder, Raisely, or other alternatives
  • An existing network
  • Class C driver’s license
